Short answer

What Generative Engine Optimization gets you.

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the work of helping ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI name a company for buyer questions and cite it as a source. A GEO agency tests real buyer questions across five systems and records the named providers and sources. That produces a list of missing evidence: pages without clear answers, articles without sourced numbers, and third-party sources that list competitors but not you. We build the evidence on your website and beyond it, then test the same questions again. Crawlable, server-rendered content is the foundation. In a study of 75,000 brands, Ahrefs found a 0.664 correlation between web mentions and AI Overview presence, versus 0.218 for backlinks. The GEO paper (KDD 2024) measured 30–40% relative visibility gains from sources, statistics and quotations in a single-actor lab setting. C-SEO Bench found such gains approach zero when competitors use the same tactics. No agency can guarantee one answer because outputs vary by prompt and model version.

Approach

The GEO loop.

We check, build, measure and improve. Every step is tied to mentions and source strength.

01

Check questions

Which buyer questions do customers ask AI?

02

Check mentions

Are you named or is evidence missing?

03

Build evidence

We build pages, content, press and sources.

04

Measure again

We check whether AI names you more often and more clearly.

  4. 04

    Delivery

We implement, measure mentions, rankings and traffic every month and report in a shared Slack channel.

Common questions about Generative Engine Optimization.

Is GEO just the new SEO?

No, GEO does not replace SEO. C-SEO Bench shows that rank in the underlying search layer remains decisive for source selection. At the same time, AI citations overlap Google's top ten by only about 12% on average. Each channel therefore needs its own measurement.

Can you guarantee mentions?

No, and nobody can do so honestly. AI answers vary by query and model version. We show where you are missing, build supported content and measure again. The GEO paper links this evidence to higher visibility only in a single-actor lab test, not to guaranteed mentions.

What comes first?

First we check real buyer questions, the providers named and the sources cited. Then we build the strongest missing piece of evidence. The order comes from your data, not from a standard package.

Which content gets cited by AI most often?

Supported, self-contained passages are the most defensible format. The GEO paper (KDD 2024) measured 30–40% relative visibility gains from sources, statistics and quotations in a single-actor lab test. C-SEO Bench found that this advantage approaches zero when competitors use the same tactics.

How long until something moves?

There is no reliable universal timeframe. It depends on when search indexes and AI systems re-read the changed content and how stable the answers are. A meaningful trend requires several measurement points with the same questions and a dated record of the changes made between them.

Is optimising our own website enough?

No. Your website is the technical and content foundation, but external sources confirm a brand beyond its own claims. In a 75,000-brand study, Ahrefs found a stronger correlation between web mentions and AI Overview presence than between backlinks and presence. That is an association, not proof of causation.
